Behind T-Bird’s Bakery are Tena and Richard Bird, a husband-and-wife team who bring both heart and dedication to the business.
Tena, the head baker and CEO, has been baking for over 20 years—a passion rooted in childhood. Raised in a family where baking was a shared tradition, she was inspired by her grandmothers and aunts who filled their kitchens with homemade recipes and meaningful moments. One grandmother owned a diner, while another ran a cottage bakery—experiences that helped shape Tena’s journey and now carry into the kind of handcrafted quality and personal touch that resonate so strongly here in the Irish Hills.
T-Bird’s Bakery is proudly a woman-owned and veteran-owned business. The name “T-Bird’s Bakery” comes from a nickname Tena earned after marrying into the Bird family. Richard manages the behind-the-scenes operations, keeping everything running smoothly day to day. The most rewarding part of owning the bakery is doing what Tena loves every day. Her biggest motivation is her daughter—showing her that with hard work and determination, dreams can become reality.
Looking ahead, Tena hopes to expand into a larger storefront with a commercial kitchen—and eventually a food truck—bringing T-Bird’s Bakery to even more people across the Irish Hills. It’s a journey the community will be excited to follow and support.
